The Lush Unisex Salon

It’s up on the second floor here in Tagore Garden, right near where everyone goes for Changezi Chicken. Sometimes you can smell the food from the street when the wind hits right. We’ve been running The Lush Unisex Salon for a bit now and it’s a pretty busy little spot. It isn’t some giant fancy place with marble floors, just a regular shop where people come to get their hair cut or fixed up. We have a few chairs and mirrors that have seen a lot of use over the years. Some days it’s quiet and we just sit around talking about the weather or what’s happening in Delhi, but then Saturday hits and it’s non-stop. You see all sorts of people walking in, from kids who don't want to sit still to the older folks who have lived in the De 82 area forever. The lighting is okay, maybe a bit bright for some, but it helps us see what we’re doing. We mostly just focus on getting the job done so people can get on with their day. There’s always someone sweeping up hair or folding towels in the back. It gets a bit cramped when it’s raining and everyone crowds inside, but we manage. We don’t really do much advertising, mostly just people seeing the sign or hearing from a neighbor. It’s just how things go around here in Tagore Garden.
