Salon Ombre

Our salon is tucked away on the ground floor of the TDI Mall in Rajouri Garden, specifically at Shop 04. Being inside a mall means our day follows the rhythm of the shoppers and the mall music playing in the background. It is a bit different from a standalone street shop because we don’t have to deal with the Delhi heat as much, thanks to the mall's cooling. We get a real mix of people coming through our doors; some are regulars who have been with us for years, while others just stumble in because they were passing by after a movie. The space is compact and we have to be organized to make sure we don't get in each other's way when all the chairs are full. We do everything from basic haircuts to more involved color work, and we just use everyday English to talk to our customers about what they want. It is not a place with a lot of fancy airs; we just want to do a solid job so people feel okay about how they look when they leave. Sometimes on a Tuesday morning, it is very quiet and we just sit and talk, but by Saturday afternoon it is pure chaos with kids running around and people waiting. We have a small staff of people who have been doing this for a long time and we just enjoy the work we do here in the mall.
