We’ve been here at the 1st Floor on Shivaji Marg for quite a while now. If you know Najafgarh Road, you know how busy it gets with all the trucks and cars zooming by. Prakash started things off years ago and now his sons are basically running the show day in and day out. It’s a bit of a climb up the stairs to get to us, but that’s just how the building is built. We spend most of our mornings sorting through what needs to get done before the afternoon heat really kicks in. Sometimes the office gets a bit crowded with boxes and paperwork piled up on the desks, but we know where everything is. People stop by, the tea guy comes around twice a day, and we just keep at it. It’s not a fancy place with glass walls or anything like that. Just some old desks, a few spinning fans, and a lot of work to finish before we head home. We usually close up once the sun goes down and the traffic outside starts to thin out a bit. It’s been the same routine for years, and we don’t see much reason to change it. Every day is pretty much the same mix of phone calls and ledger entries. We just try to keep things moving along without too much fuss. If the electricity goes out, we just open the windows and wait for it to come back.
