Our place is B-40 in the Nawada Housing Complex, which is in Uttam Nagar. We are right near the Orchid Kids Paradise School. You can usually hear the kids playing or the school bells during the day. It’s a bit of a residential area, so it’s not as crazy as the big markets. Indo Fashion India is run from here. We do a lot of our work in the back rooms. It’s a functional space, nothing too pretty to look at. We focus on getting the clothes right. There are a lot of narrow lanes around here, so getting deliveries in can be a bit of a headache sometimes. We’ve been here long enough that we know most of the neighbors. We don't spend money on big signs or bright lights. We just have our name on the door and we get on with it. The school being so close means there is always life around the building. We handle different styles and try to stay on top of the orders. It’s just us and the sewing machines most of the time. Working in Uttam Nagar has its challenges, like the traffic on the main road, but we like it here. It feels like a real community. We don’t pretend to be some high-end boutique. We just make clothes and sell them to whoever needs them, keeping things plain and simple every day.
