Classic Desinger

Down in Ramesh Nagar, at 26665, that’s where you’ll find Classic Desinger. The name on the board has that slight spelling thing, but we never bothered to change it because everyone knows who we are anyway. The shop is small and always smells like new cloth. We have sewing machines going almost all day, and the floor is usually covered in little snips of thread and chalk marks. It’s a loud place sometimes with the machines humming and people talking over them. I spend most of my time at the cutting table. It’s honest work, just taking a piece of fabric and making it fit a person. People come in with photos from magazines, and we try to do something similar but with whatever materials we have on hand. It gets really crowded before the holidays or wedding season. We don't have a receptionist; if you walk in, you just talk to whoever isn't holding a needle at that moment. Sometimes we run out of a specific button or a zipper breaks, and one of us has to run out to the market to find a replacement. It’s a bit chaotic, but we’ve been doing it this way for years and it seems to work out for the families around here who need their clothes done. We just keep our heads down and keep sewing until the sun goes down and the street lights finally come on.
