Central Market in Punjabi Bagh is always a whirlwind of activity. We are located at 49 43, right where the energy of the market is strongest. Bhavishya Rekha has been a part of this neighborhood for a while. It’s a small office, mostly taken up by a large table and bookshelves that are overflowing with old texts. I’m not much for keeping things perfectly neat; there’s always a stack of papers that needs sorting. But I know where everything is. People pop in while they are out doing their shopping. They might have a quick question or they might want to sit down for a longer talk. I don’t mind either way. The air conditioner is a bit loud, but in the summer here, you really need it. I’ve got a small photo of my parents on the wall behind me. They were the ones who taught me to be patient with people. This job is mostly about patience and looking closely at the small details. Sometimes the market outside gets so loud with the honking and the shouting that we have to close the door tight. But usually, it’s just the background music to our day. We don’t do any big advertising. People just find us by word of mouth or by seeing the sign when they are buying groceries. It’s an honest way to run a business. We just stay here and do the work. The market noise is just part of it.
