You can find Bala Jee Engineering Works over in Maya Puri Industrial Area, specifically in Phase-II at D-1/13. Anyone who knows Delhi knows that Maya Puri is a place where things get made and fixed. It’s a very industrial neighborhood with a lot of metal shops and grease. Our place isn’t anything special to look at from the outside, just a gate and the sound of work coming from inside. We do a lot of machining and fabrication here. It’s the kind of job where you’re on your feet all day. The street outside is often blocked by trucks loading and unloading heavy equipment, so getting in and out can be a bit of a struggle sometimes. We have been in this spot for quite a while now. Most of the guys working here live nearby and have been in the trade since they were young. We don’t spend money on fancy signs or marketing stuff. We just focus on the machines and the orders we have on the books. It gets very loud when all the tools are going at once, but we’re used to it. The tea man comes around twice a day and that’s when we take a small break to sit on the stools outside. Otherwise, it’s just steady work from the morning until we close up the shutters at night. We do what’s needed for the local factories and businesses that come to us. We just keep our heads down.
