Anand Fashions

The shop is at G-104 in Vikas Puri, which is a pretty busy residential area if you know the neighborhood. Anand Fashions has been in this spot for quite a bit. It’s a ground floor unit, so it’s easy to duck in and out of. Most of the time, the front area is just filled with rolls of cloth and different garments we’re working on. We don't have those fancy mannequins in the window or anything. It's mostly just a place where work happens. You can hear the hum of the machines if you stand near the back door. We usually have a radio playing somewhere, mostly old songs that nobody really pays attention to. The lighting isn't the best, but we know where everything is kept. It’s a bit of a mess during the wedding season when everyone wants their things finished at the same time. We just keep our heads down and keep going. My tea usually gets cold because I forget about it while checking the hemlines. It’s just me and a couple of helpers mostly. We don’t have a big corporate office or anything like that. It’s just this one room in Vikas Puri where we try to keep up with the orders. Sometimes we run out of thread or a needle breaks, and someone has to run out to the local market to grab more. It's just a regular daily routine for us.
