We’ve been working out of this spot at H. No -6-5/3 in Reddypalem for quite some time now. It’s a simple garage here in Geerukunta where Surender and the rest of us spend most of our daylight hours. Most days start early before the Geesugonda sun gets too high and makes the metal too hot to touch. You’ll usually find us covered in some amount of grease or oil because there is always a bike or a car that needs something looked at. The floor is stained from years of work and the shelves are crowded with old parts we might need someday. We don’t have any fancy waiting rooms or anything like that. People just drop off their vehicles and we get to work on the engines or the brakes. Sometimes the neighbors stop by just to chat for a bit while we are mid-job. It gets pretty loud when the tools are going and the fans are humming to keep the air moving. We just focus on what is in front of us. When the day ends, we wash up as best as we can, though the grease under the fingernails never really goes away. It is just the way it is when you spend your life fixing things. We know the roads around here are rough on the tires and the engines, so there is never a shortage of work to do. It keeps us busy and we like it that way.
