Prashath Auto Services is at house number 4-13 in Machapur, over in the Geesugonda area. It’s just a small place where we fix vehicles. Most days, there are bikes or old cars parked out front waiting for parts. The ground is stained with oil and grease because that’s just part of the job. We spend a lot of time under engines or changing out tires. It’s noisy because of the tools and the engines revving, but we don't mind it much. We started this because we liked taking things apart and putting them back together. People from the village bring their stuff here when it stops running right. We don't have a waiting room or anything, people just stand around and chat while we look at their motors. Sometimes the parts take a few days to get here from the bigger towns, so we just have to wait. We work until it gets too dark to see what we're doing. It’s dirty work and our clothes are always stained, but it’s what we know how to do. Machapur is a quiet place except for when we're testing out a repaired engine. We just try to help folks get back on the road so they can go to work or the market. It’s just us and our tools in the garage every day. We also help out with tractors if someone can bring them over. It's not fancy but it works.
