My name is Mukesh and I’ve been working on cars and bikes here in Khanapur for a long time. The shop is at house number 1-66 in Pakhalashoknagar. It’s not a big fancy garage like you see in the city. Most of the time, I’m out front with grease on my clothes, trying to figure out why an engine is making a weird clicking noise. It’s a lot of manual work and my hands are usually stained black by noon. I have a few tools that I’ve used for years, and they still work better than the new ones. Neighbors drop off their vehicles in the morning on their way to work and hope I can fix them by evening. I do my best. Sometimes parts take a day or two to get here, which is annoying for everyone. I don't have a waiting room or anything like that. People just stand around and talk while I work, or they go get a tea nearby. It’s a dusty spot on the side of the road, but it’s where I spend all my hours. I learned most of what I know from just doing it over and over again. If your brakes are squeaking or your oil needs changing, you can just bring it over. I don't have a fancy computer system to book appointments. You just show up and I’ll see what I can do. It’s a honest living and I like being my own boss in Pakhalashoknagar.
