The garage at H. No -6-41 in Reddypalem is usually pretty loud from early morning. We spend most of our time under cars or looking into engines that have seen better days. Geesugonda gets quite dusty, so there is always plenty of work for us to do. It’s not fancy here. There are piles of old tires and oil cans stacked near the back wall. Sometimes the heat makes the metal tools hard to hold, but we just keep going. People from around the village drop by when their bikes or tractors start making strange noises. We don't have a big office or anything like that. It’s just a place with a roof where we can work on whatever comes through the gate. Most days our hands are covered in grease before we even finish our first cup of tea. We have been here for a while now, and the neighbors know us by the sound of the air compressor kicking on. It’s a lot of manual labor, turning wrenches and checking brakes. We try to keep things organized but when it gets busy, tools end up everywhere. It is just the way it goes when you are trying to get someone back on the road. We stay until the light goes down usually. It is honest work and it keeps the village moving, which is enough for us at the end of a long day. We mostly just drink our tea and get back to the grease and the noise of the machines.
