Sri Durga Horticulture Farmers Producer Company Limited

Our group is based at H No 576 on Madyaveedi in the village of Merakamudidam. This is out in the Vizianagaram district. We are a collection of horticulture farmers who decided it was better to work as one unit than as individuals. Madyaveedi is the middle street of the village, so we are right in the center of things where everyone passes by. The office is just a regular house where we keep our records and have our meetings when we need to decide something. It is not a place you would visit if you wanted something flashy or corporate. We spend most of our time out in the orchards and gardens, but we need this space for the paperwork and organizing the transport. Dealing with horticulture means we are always worrying about the weather and the pests. Having this company allows us to share those worries and find solutions together as a group. We are local people, and most of us have lived in Merakamudidam all our lives. We do not use fancy titles or wear suits. It is a very hands-on kind of business. When the harvest comes, the office gets very busy with people coming in and out all day long. The rest of the year, it is a bit quieter and we just focus on the plants. If you are passing through the village, you will find us on the middle street.
