Sri Venkateswara Engg. Works

We get started pretty early here at Sri Venkateswara Engg. Works because the heat in Gajuvaka can get difficult by midday. Being located right near Ramalayam in Vadlapudi Post means we hear the temple bells while we are moving heavy metal parts around the shop floor. It is a noisy place with the sound of grinding and lathes running most of the time. Most days are spent with grease on our hands and dust on our clothes from the various machines we have to maintain or fix. We have been in this spot for a while now, so the locals know the sound of our shutters opening up in the morning. Sometimes people just drop by to ask if we can weld a small piece of a gate or look at a broken tool they brought from home. We don't have a big front office or anything fancy like that. There is just a small desk covered in papers and oily rags. It gets crowded when we have a few big jobs going on at once, but we manage to find space to work. The tea stall down the road knows our order by heart because we take breaks whenever the power fluctuates or we just need ten minutes away from the noise. It is just basic work done by people who have been doing it long enough to not need a manual for every single thing.
