Working at Plot No. 2 in the Industrial Estate at Autonagar means you’re always wearing a jacket, even when it’s boiling hot outside. At Konark Frozen Foods, the freezers are the main thing. They hum all day and night, and if that sound ever stops, we all start panicking. It’s a noisy place because of the compressors. We spend a lot of time moving boxes from the cold rooms to the loading dock. You have to be quick so things don't start thawing out. My hands are usually a bit cold, and the paperwork often gets those little water spots on it from the condensation. The industrial estate is a bit dusty, but inside our gates, we try to keep things as tidy as we can. We have a small team here. Most of us live nearby and we just walk or bike in. Lunch is usually eaten sitting on some crates out of the way of the forklifts. We don’t have a big fancy sign or anything, just the address and our name on the gate. It’s mostly about managing the inventory and making sure the temperatures stay exactly where they are supposed to be. Sometimes a truck arrives late and we have to stay to get it unloaded, but that’s just part of the job in the food business. We just keep the engines running and the boxes moving until the day is finally done.
