Kanaka Mahalakshmi Associates

Our office is in Flat No F2 at Satya Residency. It’s on Bhanu Street in Daba Gardens. Most days, I am here by nine in the morning. The traffic in Daba Gardens can be quite a mess, especially when the schools let out nearby. We’ve been in this spot for a while now. The building is okay, but the stairs can be a bit much if you are carrying a lot of files. Inside, it’s mostly just desks and stacks of paper everywhere. Sometimes the ceiling fan makes a clicking noise that drives me crazy, but we just ignore it. There are three of us working here usually. We don't have fancy furniture or a big sign outside. People mostly find us because their friends told them where we are. We drink a lot of tea from the stall down the road. It helps when the afternoon gets slow. Visakhapatnam gets really humid, so the air conditioner stays on all day during the summer. We spend most of our time looking at records and making sure everything is filled out correctly. It isn't very exciting work, but it needs to get done. My desk is right by the window, so I can see what’s happening on the street. Sometimes I see the same people walking past every day. It feels like a small community here even though the city is growing so fast. We just keep our heads down and handle the tasks that come our way.
