Govt Chest Hospital

Out here in Chinna Waltair, the hospital is situated in a spot where you can sometimes catch a bit of the salt air. It is the government chest hospital, so we deal with a lot of people who have trouble with their breathing. The building is large and has a lot of wide corridors, which is good for keeping the air moving. Some of the wards have a decent view of the surroundings, though the windows are a bit dusty most of the time. It’s a public place, so the furniture is mostly metal and plastic, stuff that can be washed down easily. We see a lot of different people every day, some traveling from quite far away just to get here. The morning shift is always the most hectic because everyone wants to be first in line. The staff tries their best to keep things organized, but sometimes the records get a bit mixed up and we have to spend time sorting them out. It isn't a quiet or peaceful place like a private clinic might be. There are always trolleys being pushed around and the sound of people coughing or talking in the hallways. We don't have a canteen, so people usually bring their own food and sit outside in the shade when they can find it. It’s a functional, busy hospital that does what it can with the resources we have on hand. It serves its purpose for the locals without any extra fuss or flashiness.
