Sagar Cements Ltd.

Out here in Bayyavaram Village, things move at their own pace. Sagar Cements Ltd. is right in the middle of Kasimkota Mandal, near Anakapalle. It is a big site, and you can see the structures from quite a distance when you are coming through this part of Visakhapatnam. Being in Andhra Pradesh, the heat is something we just deal with every day. The plant is always humming. There is a lot of noise and a lot of movement. Workers come in from the nearby villages early in the morning and the shifts keep rolling. We deal with bags of cement all day long. It gets everywhere, on our clothes, in our hair, and on the office desks. It is just the nature of the work. There isn’t much to look at besides the machinery and the trucks lined up at the gate. We have been part of this landscape for a long time. Most of us living nearby have some connection to the place. It is not a glamorous job, but it is what we do to keep things moving. We make sure the bags get loaded and the machines keep running without breaking down too often. The village is quiet at night, but the plant keeps its own rhythm. We aren't trying to be anything other than a cement place. It is hard work and the days are long, but that is how it is here. It is just a part of the local life.
