About Spices Asia – Food & Beverages in Virudhunagar
We have been here at 60 Sulochana Street in Virudhunagar for quite a long time now. Most days start early before the sun gets too hot. People know our spot by the smells that drift out onto the road. It is just a regular building where we handle all the different spices coming in from the local areas. My hands usually smell like turmeric or chili by the time I go home for lunch. The street gets busy with carts and trucks moving stuff back and forth. We don't have a big fancy office or anything like that. It is just a place where work gets done. Sometimes the dust from the dried peppers makes everyone sneeze, but that is just part of the job here in Virudhunagar. We spend a lot of time weighing things out and making sure the bags are tied right. It’s mostly manual work, lifting heavy sacks and sorting through what the farmers bring us. The walls are a bit stained from years of dust, and the floor is worn down from people walking over it every single day. We keep the doors open to let the air move, though it doesn't help much when the wind stops. It is a simple setup on Sulochana Street. We just show up, do what needs to be done with the stock, and head home when the shutters go down. There isn't much more to it than that.
