Kendriya Vidyalaya

This is the Kendriya Vidyalaya here in Virudhunagar. Like most schools in this particular system, we have a certain way of doing things, but being here in this town gives it a local feel too. The campus has plenty of space for everyone, though some of the older buildings show their age a little bit. We have kids from all sorts of backgrounds, mostly from families working in the central government services around here. It is a mix of languages and cultures sometimes. The mornings usually start very early before the heat gets too bad for the children. We have a big ground where the students do their drills and play different sports. The classrooms are basic, with the standard desks and boards you would expect. We do not have a lot of fancy technology, but the teachers know their subjects well. You will find that things run on a pretty tight schedule here most of the time. If the bell rings at eight, everyone is expected to be in their seats. It is not a flashy place, and we do not spend money on glossy brochures or marketing. We just focus on the lessons and the final exams. The staff stays busy with the records and the lesson plans. It gets very quiet in the afternoons once the buses leave, except for some extra-curricular stuff. It is just a solid place for kids to be. We've been here for years now.
