Ayya Nadar Janaki Ammal College

Sivakasi is known for many things, mostly matches and crackers, but Ayya Nadar Janaki Ammal College has its own place here. We are located right in the 626124 zip code area. It’s a large campus, and honestly, walking from one end to the other in the Tamil Nadu heat can be a bit of a task. The staff here mostly keeps to themselves but they know the students by face. Sometimes the wind carries the smell of the nearby factories, but inside the gates, it’s mostly just the sound of lectures and the old fans. People come from all over the district to study here. It’s not a fancy place with glass walls or anything like that. It’s just a solid, old building with a lot of history in these parts. The morning starts early, around eight or so, and you see the buses pulling in. We’ve been here in Sivakasi for quite some time now. Some of the desks have names scratched into them from twenty years ago. It’s just a regular college where people try to get their degrees and move on to better things. You’ll find us easily if you follow the main road. The address says Sivakasi, but for us, it’s just home. We don’t have those big shiny signs you see in Chennai. It’s just a place for learning, plain and simple, like the people who live around here.
