Rohini Hair Saloon

Rohini Hair Saloon is over at Sikama Center in the Moghalraja Puram area. We are right by Sai Ram Apartments, so a lot of the residents just walk over when they need a trim. Vijayawada can get really hot, so the shop is a good place to sit under the fan for a bit. I have got a few old pictures on the wall and the mirrors have some chips at the edges, but they work fine. I start my day around 9 in the morning. Usually, the first few hours are quiet, then it picks up around lunchtime. I handle everything from shaves to standard haircuts. I don't use a computer or anything for appointments, people just show up and wait. If it is a long wait, they go get a tea nearby and come back. The scissors have a specific sound I’ve grown used to over the years. My hands know the movements so well I could probably do it with my eyes shut, though I wouldn't try that. I like the routine of it all. It is a small business and it stays that way. We don't have fancy products or expensive smells. It is just the smell of talcum powder and sometimes a bit of oil for the clippers. Every evening I pack up my tools and lock the door, thinking about what needs to be done the next day.
