Our studio, Model Photographic Company Pvt. Ltd., is located at 27-23-172 on Gopala Reddy Road. We are right beside the Big Bazaar, so if you are out doing your grocery shopping, you have probably passed our door. The Navrang Theatre is also quite close, which makes this a very busy corner of the city. We have been doing photography for a long time now. Inside, it smells a bit like old paper and chemicals, even though we use digital cameras mostly these days. We have a few backdrops set up in the back for portraits and passport photos. It’s not a very large space, and the shelves are crowded with old camera bodies and lenses we’ve collected over the years. People come in for all sorts of reasons, like wedding photos or just needing a quick snap for an ID card. We spend a lot of time sitting at the computers editing pictures and trying to get the colors just right. Sometimes the printer jams and we have to spend an hour taking it apart, which can be frustrating when there’s a line of people waiting. The lighting in the shop is a bit dim because we keep the curtains drawn to control the studio lights. It’s a quiet kind of work most of the time, except when a big family comes in for a group portrait and everyone is talking at once. We just like taking pictures and helping people keep their memories.
