L V Grinding Work

Our little shop is tucked away on Rajagopalachari Street, right next to the Hotel Krishna Residency. If you’ve ever walked down this road, you’ve probably heard the sound of our machines running. Grinding work is messy business, there’s no way around that. My hands are usually stained with oil or metal dust by ten in the morning. The shop floor is crowded with parts and tools, and we’ve got this old fan that wobbles but keeps the air moving. It gets pretty hot in here during the summer months. We see all kinds of people coming through the door, from regulars who have been coming for years to folks staying at the hotel next door who just got lost looking for the main road. Sometimes they pop their heads in to ask for directions while we’re in the middle of a job. We don’t have a receptionist or a waiting room with magazines. If you come by, you’ll likely find us hunched over a piece of equipment making sure the edges are smooth. It’s repetitive work and it’s loud, but there’s something nice about finishing a piece and seeing it look exactly right. We’ve been at 98-7-25 for a long time now. The street has changed quite a bit, but we’re still here doing the same thing every day. It’s not glamorous, but it is what we know how to do, and it keeps the lights on for us.
