Vijaya Metal Works

You can find Vijaya Metal Works over on Sivalayam Street in I Town. Our address is 11-49-375. It’s a street with a lot of history, and we’ve been part of it for quite a long while now. We do a lot of metal work here, mostly focused on the kinds of utility items and things people need for their houses every day. It’s a noisy job, as you can imagine, with the sound of metal hitting metal and things being moved around throughout the day. The shop isn't much to look at from the outside, but we have a lot of stuff packed inside the shelves and in the back. I’ve spent most of my life working with these materials, so I know the weight and the feel of everything we sell. Sivalayam Street is a good place to be, with people walking to the temple and other shops nearby. We don't do much in the way of advertising because word of mouth in I Town is usually enough to keep us busy. People know that if they need something sturdy made of metal, they can come to our shop. It’s honest work and it keeps us busy from the morning until the evening. We don't have a big team here, just a couple of us who know the trade. Every day is pretty much the same—open up, handle the metal, talk to the customers, and close up. It’s a steady way to spend the years. Sometimes we have tea together when the work slows down.
