Thamarai Steel And Traders is found at 626 Idukkupillayar Nagar. We are situated on 5th Street, right off Kanjee Road in the Vengikkal area. Our main work is dealing with steel, so there is always a lot of heavy material around the yard. It’s a dusty job, and your hands usually end up black by the end of the day from handling the metal. We have a small office where we keep the records, but mostly we are outside or in the shed. The neighborhood is a mix of houses and small businesses. We see a lot of local builders coming in to get supplies for the houses they are putting up nearby. The street can be a bit narrow for the bigger trucks, so we have to be careful when they are backing in to unload the steel. We don't have any flashy signs or big advertisements. Most people just know us because we've been on 5th street for a long time. The gate is usually open from early morning. We just keep our heads down and get the orders ready. Sometimes we run out of a certain size of rod and have to wait for the next delivery to come in from the factory. It’s a regular trading business, nothing more. We just try to keep the stacks neat and the customers happy with what they get for their projects. It is hard work.
