The Council Academy

The Council Academy is out in Aurai, right on National Highway 2. We are specifically located on Thasil Road, which is a pretty well-known path for people in this part of Varanasi. Being so close to the highway means there is a constant sound of trucks and cars passing by, but we have gotten used to it over the years. The academy isn't a large campus; it’s more of a practical building that fits in with the other shops and offices around here. We have a few rooms where we hold our sessions, and they are kept pretty basic with just the essentials like chairs and boards. It’s a bit of a walk from the main bus stop, but not too bad. The weather out here can be quite harsh, especially in the middle of summer when the heat radiates off the highway. We do our best to keep things comfortable with fans and plenty of water. We don't have a big corporate structure or anything like that. It is just a few of us who work here and handle everything from cleaning up to teaching. We don't put out a lot of brochures or advertisements. Most people find us because they live nearby or they pass by on Thasil Road and see our sign. It’s a very standard, local place where we just focus on the day-to-day tasks. We like the Aurai community and feel like we are just another part of the local scenery now.
