Nankhu Flower Decorators

Nankhu Flower Decorators is a small shop located at B.25/2 in Hanumanpura, Bhelupura. Being in Varanasi, we are surrounded by the smell of incense and the sound of bells, but at our place, it’s mostly the smell of fresh marigolds and roses. We wake up very early, usually before the sun is even up, to get the best flowers from the local mandi. Bhelupura is an old part of the city with narrow lanes, so things can be a bit tight when we are loading up the flowers for a job. We decorate for weddings, temples, and small family prayers. It is a lot of manual work, stringing petals together and making sure the flowers don't wilt in the heat. Our hands are often stained with flower juice and wet from the water we spray to keep everything fresh. We don't have a website or a marketing person. People just know Nankhu because we have been here in Hanumanpura for a long time. It’s a simple life, working with nature and helping people make their homes look nice for a special day. Sometimes the shop is overflowing with baskets of petals, and you can barely find a place to sit. That’s just how it goes during the festival season. We are just local people doing a job we know well, right here in the heart of Banaras, near the busy streets of Bhelupura.
