Marriage Decorator

Marriage Decorator is run from our place at Sa-6/186-A105 in Shree Nagar Colony. We are tucked away in the Pahariya area of Varanasi, right behind Surbhi Hotel. If you know the hotel, you can find us easily enough. Our work is mostly about physical labor and being outdoors. We have a lot of bamboo poles, rolls of colorful cloth, and crates of lights stored in our yard. Most mornings start with us loading these things onto a trolley or a small truck. Varanasi streets are narrow and crowded, so moving all this stuff around Pahariya and the rest of the city is always a challenge. We don't have a fancy showroom. If someone wants to see what we do, they usually just look at photos on a mobile phone or come by while we are working on a site. It gets very hot here, and working under the sun to put up tents is exhausting. We use a lot of marigold flowers and basic electric bulbs for most of our jobs. It is simple work that requires a lot of hands. Sometimes we are working in the middle of a field and other times in a small backyard. We just take the equipment where it needs to go and start hammering things into place. It’s a busy life, especially during the festival and wedding seasons when everyone wants their place to look good.
