Durga Engineering Works

Durga Engineering Works is tucked away at C1-2605/2 in the 3rd Phase. We are right behind the Bank of Baroda on Micro Ink Road in Kocharva, Vapi. Vapi is a big industrial hub, and our little corner is usually full of the sound of grinding and welding from early morning. The shop floor is covered in metal shavings and oil spots that never really go away. We do a lot of repair work and custom fabrication for the factories nearby. It’s not the kind of place where you’d want to wear a nice suit. Most of us are in overalls that have seen better days and are stained with grease. The Bank of Baroda is a good landmark because people often get lost trying to find the specific plot numbers in the 3rd Phase. It’s a bit of a trek to get here, especially with the road conditions during the monsoon when everything gets muddy. We have some old lathes and a couple of newer machines that we use every day. The office is really just a corner of the shop partitioned off with some thin plywood. It’s where we keep the ledgers and the tea kettle. We don’t have any fancy brochures or a sales team to call people. Usually, if someone needs something fixed or made, they just show up with a drawing or a broken part. We take a look, give them a price, and get to work. It’s a long day, starting early and finishing late.
