Out here at Sonal Plastoware, we are based in the GIDC area at plot 916. If you know anything about industrial estates, you know it’s mostly about big sheds and the sound of machines running. We deal with plastic items, so there’s usually that specific smell of heating plastic in the air throughout the day. It’s a very hands-on environment. We spend most of our time on the shop floor making sure the machines are working like they should. It’s not a quiet job, and it’s definitely not a desk job for most of us. The GIDC is a massive place, and being at 916 means we are right in the thick of it. We have our routine of starting early before it gets too hot inside the shed. During the breaks, we just sit outside or in the small office area to have some water and tea. It’s hard work, and the floors are usually covered with scraps or boxes waiting to be packed. We don’t really bother with making the place look like a showroom because that’s not what we do. We just make the plastoware and get it ready to go out. It’s a practical space for practical work. Some days are longer than others, especially when we have a big batch to finish, but that is just how it goes in this line of business. We’ve been here for quite some time now, just focusing on our daily tasks and keeping the machines moving.
