S B Chemicals

Over in Vapi, at Plot No. 5003 in Phase 4, you’ll find the S B Chemicals site. It’s a different vibe than the city, very much an industrial heartland where everything smells like rain and manufacturing. The GIDC area here is massive, and we are just one of the many units lining the streets. Our daily routine is pretty set. We start early to get a jump on the production schedule. There is a lot of manual work involved, moving bags of raw materials and checking the drums as they get filled. It isn't a glamorous job. You end up with stains on your boots and a lot of sweat on your brow by noon. The monsoon season makes everything a bit more difficult with the dampness, but we manage to keep the stock dry and ready. We don't have any big marketing team or anyone sitting around in suits. It’s mostly just the production guys and a couple of us handling the orders and the phones. The phone rings a lot with people asking about delivery times. We try to keep the yard organized, but with new shipments coming in, it’s a constant battle to keep the lanes clear for the forklifts. It is a busy, greasy, honest kind of workplace where the main goal is just to finish the day’s quota without any of the machines breaking down.
