About Abrama Prathmik School – Education in Valsad
You’ll find our school in Abrama Village, which is part of Valsad. It is a primary school, so we mostly see younger children from the immediate neighborhood. The building is a simple one-story structure with a veranda where the kids often leave their shoes. We have a few trees in the front yard that give some shade, which is nice because it gets very humid here. There isn't any high-tech equipment in our rooms. We use chalk and blackboards, and the students sit on long wooden benches. Everyone in the village knows where we are, so we don't need a big sign. The morning starts with a hand-rung bell that echoes through the streets nearby. We focus on the basics like reading and writing. The teachers are local people who know most of the families by name. During the breaks, the yard is full of kids playing games and making a lot of noise. It’s a very honest sort of place without any pretense. We don't have a cafeteria, so everyone brings their own lunch in metal boxes. Sometimes the roof leaks a little when the monsoon is heavy, but we just move the desks and keep going. We've been here for a long time and the school has become a regular part of daily life in the village. It is just a small, simple school doing its part every day.
