Goel Scientific Glass Works Ltd. operates out of a couple of spots here. We have the place at C/31/A in Sardar Estate on Ajwa Road, and then there is the bigger section over at F/555-559 on Road No. 6 in the V.K.I. Area. Working with scientific glass is a specific kind of job. It involves a lot of heat and careful hands. Our workshops are usually pretty warm because of the equipment we use to shape the glass. You’ll see racks of tubes and beakers everywhere you look. The Sardar Estate location is where a lot of the initial planning and smaller jobs happen. Then we have the space in the V.K.I. Area which is more for the heavy-duty production work. It is an industrial vibe through and through. We don't spend much time on making the front office look pretty because the real value is in the back where the glass is being blown and joined. The guys on the floor have been doing this for years and they know exactly how the material behaves. It is a noisy, busy environment with the sound of burners and the clinking of glassware. Sometimes a piece breaks and we have to start over, but that’s just part of the craft. We’ve been part of the local industrial scene for a long time, providing glass items for laboratories and factories who need specific shapes that they can't just find anywhere else. I suppose it’s not for everyone, but we like it.
