Soni Traders

Our shop, Soni Traders, is located right on Refinery Road in the Gorwa area. We are sitting just opposite the government school and the old Gujarat Housing Board colony. It’s a lively spot because of all the kids running around when the school bell rings. We see the same faces every day, mostly people from the housing board who are just going about their business. The shop itself is pretty basic. We have shelves lined with all sorts of things that people might need. It’s not a supermarket; it’s just a local trading spot. We spend a lot of time unloading crates and making sure everything is in its right place. The floor is made of plain cement and we have a small desk where we keep our receipts and change. Sometimes we stand out front to catch a bit of a breeze because it gets stuffy inside with all the stock. We don’t have a big marketing plan or anything like that. We just open up early and stay until late. People come in for a chat as much as they do to buy things. We know most of the families around Gorwa by now. It’s a simple way to make a living, and we don’t ask for much more than that. We just focus on keeping the shelves full and being helpful to whoever walks through the door today. It is honest work and we like being part of the neighborhood.
