I am Gita Soni and you can find me at the Suvarnakala Complex in Mandvi. If you know the Mandvi area, you know it’s one of the busiest parts of town. There is always a lot of noise and people moving around outside. Inside the complex, it is a bit different. We have been here for a long time, and I’ve seen the neighborhood change a lot. My space isn't very large, but it’s enough for what I do. I usually spend my time working on small details and making sure everything is in its place. It’s hard work and it takes a lot of patience. Sometimes customers come in with a lot of questions, and I try my best to answer them simply. We don't have a big team or fancy displays. It is just about the craft and being here every day. The lighting inside is bright so I can see what I’m doing. Sometimes the heat in the afternoon is quite a bit, but we have a small fan that keeps us going. Most people find us because their parents or grandparents used to come here. It’s a family kind of thing. I like the routine of opening up, setting out the items, and waiting for the first person to walk through the door. It’s a steady life and I wouldn't change it for much. It gets tiring but I enjoy seeing the finished results of my day's work.
