Sarjan Ply & Timber

Sarjan Ply & Timber is located at 1 Channi Naka, right near the Chhani Jakat Naka. You can usually smell the wood before you even see the sign. We have stacks of plywood and timber all over the yard. It’s a very physical job here. We spend our days moving heavy boards, cutting things to size, and loading up trucks for deliveries. The ground is always covered in sawdust, and it gets into everything, including our clothes and hair. We don’t mind it much. It’s part of the trade. The location at Channi Naka is good for the big trucks to get in and out, though the traffic can be a nightmare in the afternoons. Our office is just a small shack on the edge of the property where we keep the invoices and the phone. It’s usually dusty in there too, no matter how much we clean. We have a small crew of people who have been working with wood for a long time. We aren't much for talking; we just like to get the orders filled and see the wood moving out. Some of the timber we have is really nice, while other stuff is just for basic construction. We treat it all the same. It’s a lot of lifting and sweating, especially in the summer, but there is something satisfying about seeing the stacks go down as the day goes on.
