If you walk down Padra Road towards Kunte Chowk, you’ll find our place at number 7. Rajesh Art has been around for a while now, and it’s mostly just a workshop where things get made and repaired by hand. There’s usually a bit of dust on the floors and the faint smell of paint or wood glue in the air when you walk in. We don’t have a big fancy showroom with bright lights or glass displays. Most of the space is taken up by the heavy wooden benches and the tools we use every single day. The fan in the corner wobbles a bit when it's on high speed, but it keeps us cool enough. People come in with all sorts of requests, from small repairs to bigger projects. Some days we are working on tiny pieces that need a lot of focus, and other days it’s much larger stuff that takes up nearly the whole floor. It gets a bit crowded when more than two or three people are inside at once. My cousin helps out when we have too much to do, which happens more often lately. We don't really use computers for the actual work, mostly just our hands and old brushes that have seen better days. The sink in the back is always stained with different colors from washing out the tools. It’s a messy job but we enjoy the process of finishing something. We stay open until the sun goes down and then lock up for the night.
