Our workshop is located at Plot No. 185 in the GIDC Estate over at Por Ramangamdi. It’s an industrial area, so it gets quite dusty and noisy with all the other factories around us. We spend most of our hours here dealing with engineering parts and fixing things up. The floor is usually covered in some metal shavings or oil, which is just part of the job for us. We have a small crew that knows their way around the machinery, and they’ve been with us through plenty of long days. The weather in Por can get really hot in the summer, making the shed feel like an oven, but we just keep the fans going and get on with it. We don't have a receptionist or a big lobby. If you come by, you’ll probably find us near the back working on a machine or checking some blueprints on a greasy table. We started out at this plot because it was close to the main transport routes, which makes moving the heavier gear much easier. There is a small tea stall just outside the gates where we take our breaks and talk about the work. It is a very hands-on kind of place. We aren't interested in being fancy; we just want the engineering work to be right before it leaves the gate. That's pretty much what life is like at Petmech.
