Nandshri Industrial Association Common Effluent Treatment Plant

This place is out in Asoj, Anekal Taluk, Phase III, over at Shed 91/7 in the G I D C area. It’s right across the road from the Kedak Company. The mud gets everywhere during the monsoon season, making the whole site a bit of a mess for everyone. The Nandshri Industrial Association Common Effluent Treatment Plant is basically a utility for the different factories operating around here. It’s not a pretty place to look at, with all the various pipes, tanks, and concrete basins scattered around. It smells like chemicals and wet earth most of the time you are on site. We are a small crew that keeps the machinery running twenty-four hours a day. There’s a lot of constant maintenance involved because the old pumps always seem to need something tightened or replaced. We spend our shifts checking the gauges and making sure the water flows exactly where it’s supposed to. The office is just a tiny room with a metal desk and a few chairs that have seen better days. We eat our lunch out of tiffins while sitting on a bench near the main gate. It’s a lot of noise from the surrounding industrial zone, so we have to shout sometimes just to be heard over the engines. We don't have many visitors here, mostly just the tanker drivers and the guys from the other sheds who drop by to chat. It’s tough work and your clothes get dirty every single day.
