Mayur Motor Lining Works

You’ll find Mayur Motor Lining Works at B 5 in the Anand Chambers. We are right on the Vadodara Sinhagad Road, directly across from the New Era Girls High School. It is a busy spot, especially when the school bell rings and the street fills up with buses and rickshaws. Our shop is mostly about brakes and clutches. There is always a layer of grey dust on everything from the brake linings we work on. I spend a lot of my day sitting on a low wooden bench, taking apart brake assemblies or fitting new linings. It is greasy, heavy work and my fingernails are usually stained black. The shop isn't very big, so we have to park the vehicles carefully along the side of the road or just in front of the door. We have some old machines for riveting the linings, and they make a lot of noise. Customers usually hang around the shop while we work, leaning against the walls and chatting about the traffic. It’s a simple setup. I’ve been in this location for many years now and know most of the drivers who pass by. We don't use any high-tech gadgets, just the tools I've had since I started. It gets hot in the afternoons, but the breeze from the road helps a bit. We just keep working until the sun goes down.
