M Hanif Daymakumar

Our place is inside the Mandvi Jama Masjid Building, which is a very old and busy part of the town. My name is M Hanif Daymakumar, and this is where we do our business every day. It’s a traditional shop in a historic building, so the walls are thick and the space is a bit cramped with all the goods we keep. We don’t have a website or any fancy advertisements. Most of the people who come to us have been shopping here for generations. We sell various things that the local community needs. The area around the Jama Masjid is always full of life, especially on Fridays when many people come for prayers. You can hear the sounds of the market and the calls to prayer all day long. We usually open early in the morning and stay until late evening. It’s a simple life. We sit on the floor or on small stools and talk to our customers about their families while we weigh out their orders. Sometimes the supply is a bit late because the narrow streets of Mandvi make it hard for trucks to get through, but we manage. We aren’t looking to expand into some big corporation. We just want to provide what we have to the people who live around here. It’s an honest way to earn a living, and we’ve been doing it this way for a very long time now.
