Gujarat State Fertilizers & Chemicals Ltd.

Our office is out at P.O. Fertilizernagar. It’s a place that most people around here know because it’s been part of the landscape for a long time. Gujarat State Fertilizers & Chemicals Ltd. is the full name, but everyone just calls it the plant or the office. It’s a big site, so there’s a lot of walking involved to get from the main gate to where we actually sit. We have a lot of people working here, but in our little corner, it feels more like a small group. The atmosphere is very steady. There are sirens that go off at certain times of the day to mark the shifts, and you just sort of set your watch by them. The offices are functional—lots of metal desks and old-fashioned filing cabinets. It’s not the kind of place that’s trying to look modern. It’s built for work. We deal with a lot of paperwork and technical stuff throughout the day. The air always has a bit of an industrial scent to it, which is something you stop noticing after your first month on the job. We have a canteen where we all eat lunch together, which is probably the best part of the day. It’s a huge operation, but at the end of the day, we’re just a bunch of people doing our part to keep everything running smoothly in Fertilizernagar. It is a solid place to work.
