Running a trading business in Raopura means you're always in the middle of the noise. We've been at this spot for quite some time. The streets are narrow and there’s always someone shouting or a scooter honking right outside the door. Inside it's mostly just stacks of boxes and ledgers. We trade different items depending on what's moving in the market. Some days it's busy with people coming in to check prices and other days it's just us drinking tea and waiting for the delivery truck to arrive. It’s not a big setup, just a regular shop where we keep track of everything on paper mostly. Sometimes the inventory gets a bit mixed up and we have to spend the whole evening counting things again. That’s just how it is when you’ve been in one place for years. The walls could use a fresh coat of paint but nobody really looks at that. They just want to know if we have what they need in stock today. Raopura is a crowded area so getting stuff in and out is always a bit of a headache with the traffic. We know most of the other shopkeepers around here. We help each other out when someone is short on change or needs a hand moving a heavy crate. It’s a simple life of buying and selling. We open up early and usually stay till the market starts to quiet down. It’s dusty work but it’s what we do.
