GUJARAT PESTICHEM INDUSTRIES

Our company, GUJARAT PESTICHEM INDUSTRIES, is situated at 111 in the Nandesari Industrial Estate. Nandesari is a place where you can always smell the chemicals in the air, and we’ve been part of that landscape for quite some time. We manufacture pesticides and other chemical products, so we have to be very careful with the way we handle things every day. It’s not a glamorous environment. The floors are concrete, and the shelves are stacked high with drums and containers. Our office is right next to the production area, so the hum of the machines is always there in the background. We aren't a big corporation with hundreds of layers of management. It’s just a group of us who know the chemistry and the process. Lunch is a simple time where we sit together and talk about normal things like family or the local news. Dealing with the transport trucks is probably the most stressful part of the job, especially when they get stuck in traffic or have a breakdown on the way to the estate. We don't have any big slogans or mission statements written on the walls. We just focus on getting the mixtures right and making sure the batches are ready on time. The heat in the industrial estate can be pretty intense, so we all look forward to the rainy season. It’s just a steady, working-class job in a tough industry.
