Gandhi Ishwarlal Rambhai

You will find us at B 21 in Pratap Nagar, right near the Ratan Pole area. This is one of the older parts of the city, and the streets are quite narrow and winding. The building we are in has been around for a long time, and you can see the age in the bricks and the way the door creaks. Ishwarlal and Rambhai have been working out of this spot for decades. Ratan Pole is famous for its history and the way the shops are all packed together. We don't have a lot of space, but we have everything we need to get our work done. The atmosphere around here is very different from the new parts of the city. You can hear the temple bells and the vendors shouting their prices throughout the day. We spend a lot of our time sitting on the floor or on low stools because that’s just how we’ve always done it. It is a traditional way of working. We don't use computers much; we still rely on our old ledgers and hand-written notes. People come to us because they know we have been in Pratap Nagar forever. They trust us because they knew our fathers and grandfathers. It’s a small family legacy that we are just trying to keep going. We don't want to move to a modern office. We like the history of Ratan Pole and the familiar faces that walk past B 21 every morning.
