Digant Traders

If you're looking for us, we’re in Raopura on the Gangadhar Chetty Road. The shop is tucked into Prabhat Studios Lane, right across from Amdavadi Pole. It’s one of those old parts of town where the lanes are narrow and the history is thick. We’ve been trading here for a long time, dealing with all sorts of goods that come through the city. The space is old and the walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but it works for us. It’s usually a bit of a jumble inside with crates and boxes piled up. We spend our mornings on the phone with suppliers and our afternoons dealing with whoever walks through the door. It’s a lot of paperwork and tracking shipments, which isn't always exciting. The heat in the summer makes the lane feel even narrower than it is. We aren't trying to be the biggest traders in Vadodara; we just want to keep things moving and stay busy. Sometimes we sit out front on a stool and watch the traffic go by when things are quiet. There’s a certain rhythm to life in Raopura that you don't get in the newer parts of the city. We know the other shopkeepers around here, and we all kind of look out for each other. It’s just a regular trading business, run by people who have lived here forever and know the streets.
