Delhi Darbar Hotel

Delhi Darbar Hotel is tucked away in Pratapganj at A M Lane 15. It’s a narrow lane so it can be a bit tricky to find if you aren't looking for it. We’ve been running this place for some time now and it’s a lot of daily chores. In the mornings, we are busy with the kitchen getting things ready for the guests. There’s always laundry to be done and rooms to be straightened out. It’s not a five-star luxury place, just a regular hotel where people can stay and eat. The noise from the lane comes in through the windows but that’s just city life. We spend a lot of time in the kitchen because the food is a big part of what we do here. The stoves are almost always on. It gets busy during the lunch hour when local workers come in. We have a few staff members who have been with us for years and we all just know what needs to be done without talking much about it. Sometimes the plumbing gives us trouble or a light bulb goes out and we have to fix it right away. It’s a lot of maintenance to keep an old building like this going. We don’t have a fancy lobby with marble floors. It’s just a practical space for people who need a spot in Pratapganj. We keep the tea hot and the rooms ready as best as we can every single day.
