Dakshinamurti Rubber Works

Our workshop is located at 78/3/G in the Makarpura Gr Lane. We are right besides the Makarpura Bank, which makes it easy to run errands. The main thing you notice when you walk in is the smell of raw rubber. It’s a strong scent that sticks to your clothes. We make various rubber parts and components here. The machines are old but they still work fine for what we need. It gets very warm near the presses, especially in the afternoons. We have some big fans but they mostly just move the hot air around. We spend a lot of time trimming the edges off the molded pieces. It’s repetitive work but someone has to do it. The lane outside is narrow, so it’s always a struggle when a big truck tries to bring in a load of raw materials. We have to go out and help guide them in. Our floor is always a bit stained with oil and carbon black. It’s a messy environment but that’s just how rubber manufacturing is. We don't worry too much about the looks of the place as long as the machines are running. We just keep our heads down and get the orders ready for our customers. We keep a small cat around the shop to help with the mice that sometimes come in from the lane. She mostly just sleeps on the scrap rubber piles where it's soft and warm.
