Asa Ram Mukand Lal

Our place is at 123 in the Gidc Estate at Makarpura. The name Asa Ram Mukand Lal comes from the family, and we’ve tried to keep things running the way they always have. Being in a GIDC estate means we are surrounded by other workshops and factories. There’s always the smell of machine oil and the sound of something being welded nearby. We aren't a big, shiny company. Most of our day is spent on the floor, making sure the production is moving along. We deal with a lot of regular clients who have been buying from us for decades. They don't want a fancy brochure; they just want to know that the quality is the same as it was last time. The office is just a corner of the building with some old desks and a filing cabinet that has seen better days. We drink a lot of tea and talk about how the costs of raw materials keep going up. Makarpura is a busy hub, and we like being in the middle of it. It’s not an easy job, especially when a machine breaks down or a shipment is late, but we’ve learned how to fix things as we go. We don't have any big mission statements. We just show up, do the work, and try to treat people fairly. That’s how the business has survived all these years at plot 123.
